Rosewood’s Mayakobá Maya Riviera, the newest resort in the Maya Riviera has opened up. Here are some pics and an article from the dallasnews.
Rosewood may be a hometown Dallas company, but the luxury hotel group’s newest retreat feels about as distant from Dallas as paradise from a parking lot.

ROSEWOOD MAYAKOBÁ, on Mexico’s Caribbean-lapped Mayan Riviera, opened in December, catering to guests with 128 beach- and lagoon-front suites (each with its own boat dock, most with private plunge pools), an 18-hole Greg Norman golf course and new-this-month spa, Sense, situated on its own private island. (An “on-site shaman” performs the signature Temazcal Ritual – a purifying steam bath based on traditional Mayan healing methods.)
Mayakobá is 42 miles from the Cancún airport and just four miles north of the picturesque fishing town (and open-air bars) of Playa del Carmen. If even that sounds like too far a trip, a brief stroll to Mayakobá’s on-site Tequila Library will bring entire new meaning to the term “beach read.”
